Two great roundups that have very kindly linked back to this site, completely unsolicited. Thanks, guys!
A mother in Israel presents Easy and Inspiring Purim Craft Ideas – exactly what I need for a blah wintry month that, even though it’s late, STILL doesn’t feel like Purim.
And then there’s another one I’d never even heard of – and still they picked me!
I don’t love math nearly as much as I pretend I do when I’m teaching it or blogging about it or trying to enthuse my kids.
I just believe – ever since an eye-opening university-level Mathematics in Perspective course – that math is taught VERY badly, bumbled and fumbled and as a result we have this societal fear of what is, essentially, a great big GAME.
Apparently, the folk(s?) at the blog Let’s Play Math agree, and they included my Cuisenaire Rods lesson on money math in their Math Teachers at Play round-up this (month? week?). Never heard of them before, but that doesn’t mean I won’t be a huge fan in future…!
Yep, I certainly agree! In fact, I like the way you said it so much that I'm quoting you today.
ReplyDeleteThe Math Teachers at Play carnival happens monthly (third Fridays), and we try to get a nice mix of playful ideas from teachers, homeschoolers, unschoolers, or anyone else who is blogging about school-level math.
