CJN Article: Caterer Makes False Kosher Claims

It sure doesn’t read like it, but this could well be the toughest article I’ve ever written.

I am SO not an investigative journalist.

It is SO much easier to write a feature or opinion article than an actual piece of news reporting.

It amazes me that some people turn out dozens of these types of stories a week. Okay, actually I have no clue of the pace at which a professional reporter works.

But this – the emails and phone calls from editors, fact checkers, copy editors – sure makes me grateful to mostly work at my own pokey pace from home.

I applied for a writing award yesterday. I'm not going to get it, but that's not what I wanted to share with you. Here's what I wanted to share. This box: I stared at this box for a long, long time. And then I decided not to check it. Even though I believe people like me truly are underrepresented, we probably wouldn’t fit the definition in other people's minds. Why?
