Coleus Count: 20!


Not counting four on the windowsill , I now have 20 coleus (coleii?)!! Notice the windowsill ones are back in drinking glasses... perlite just was NOT working for me and I can't take chances - in glasses, 100% of them were rooting; in perlite, only about 75%. :-(

In a mad gardening frenzy, I also started a bunch of seeds someone from GardenWeb sent me for an SASE. Teeny tiny poppy-like seeds... they are underneath the plants in a moist tray on a heating pad. Hope to see them in my little grow-op soon!

Still cannot believe spring is around the corner!!! I wanted to start more seeds but held off. Maybe I'll sew something instead...

Are Jews an "underrepresented community" in children’s publishing?

I applied for a writing award yesterday. I'm not going to get it, but that's not what I wanted to share with you. Here's what I wanted to share. This box:   I stared at this box for a long, long time. And then I decided not to check it. Even though I believe people like me truly are underrepresented, we probably wouldn’t fit the definition in other people's minds. Why? Well, because we're European. Because we are white. Because as everybody knows, Jews control the media. (do we???) If anything, some people say, Jews are over -represented in publishing. And yet.
