Lapbook Giveaway from A Journey Through Learning

image I haven’t blogged about it yet, but recently ordered the Learning Lapbook Templates “template” from Journey Through Learning, which landed me on their mailing list, and one thing leads to another so now I’m entering a contest to win a lapbook from them.

So this is, yet again, another shameless blog post trying to win me something fun online.  Sorry to all those who couldn’t care less whether I win stuff!

But you can win, too – if you enter here!

Not sure how I feel yet about the lapbook templates, by the way, so I’m not ready to put out a full review.  Some of the templates are so basic I wonder how much time and energy they’re saving me.  Others, however, are more involved and will hopefully be a help to us in any future lapbook projects.

I can see a product like this being a big help to mamas who plan their year around unit studies and just keep a bunch of colourful, pre-printed (blank) mini-books handy for when the mood strikes them.

Also, there are so many good lapbooking resources and FREE templates out there that I’m not sure I should have actually purchased this one.  But now that it’s here, I’m going to try to make use of it… somehow!

  1. Lapbooks are a way of organizing a child's learning into a compact visual presentation using graphical organizers and fun little "mini-books". Sound confusing? It's a bit like those giant 3-fold science fair fold-out displays, only much, much smaller. We've done them for Pesach, Shavuos, and several others in the last couple of years and it's a fun complement to any subject.
Here are some more examples from my blog...

What do we tell our kids about Chabad and “Yechi”?

If I start by saying I really like Chabad, and adore the late Lubavitcher Rebbe, z"l, well... maybe you already know where I'm headed. Naomi Rivka has been asking lately what I think about Chabad.  She asks, in part, because she already knows how I feel.  She already knows I’m bothered, though to her, it’s mostly about “liking” and “not liking.”  I wish things were that simple. Our little neighbourhood in Israel has a significant Chabad presence, and Chabad conducts fairly significant outreach within the community.  Which sounds nice until you realize that this is a religious neighbourhood, closed on Shabbos, where some huge percentage of people are shomer mitzvos.  Sure, it’s mostly religious Zionist, and there are a range of observances, for sure, but we’re pretty much all religious here in some way or another. So at that point, this isn’t outreach but inreach .  Convincing people who are religious to be… what? A lot of Chabad’s efforts here are focused on kids, including a
