Never looked at the logic stage, but you should be able to look at previews on the site.
It's hard to answer the question about WorldlyWise. I love the idea of vocabulary programs, but haven't yet managed to find one that clicks perfectly.
It doesn't really depend on your science program, but more on the overall picture of what you and your kids have on your plate.
In terms of vocab, though, if you have a lot of serious academics, I'd try to pick a program that was light and fun. But then, I also like roots-based programs, because they seem more systematic.
Ack, personal taste. Let me know what you do end up picking, though! :-)Jennifer Tzivia MacLeodhttp://ronypony.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21153604.post-20760267879324449482014-07-22T20:30:35.908-04:002014-07-22T20:30:35.908-04:00Also, if we do ES, do you think doing a program li...Also, if we do ES, do you think doing a program like Wordly Wise would be overkill?Erikahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16412776288308170269noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21153604.post-78680689049396196562014-07-21T08:41:50.621-04:002014-07-21T08:41:50.621-04:00I am wondering if the logic stage is any better. I am not an artist, but my mom and brother are so I guess I might have high standards.I also find it odd that the author of ES butts into the posts on her curriculum on the WTM Forum. I don't say that to sound rude, but I think it is a bit unprofessional.I do appreciate her attempt to offer another Science Curriculum option to homeschoolers. I still have not decided if I will use it or not.Originalkathttp://www.originalkatathome.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21153604.post-7650923905188937482011-03-24T15:57:41.953-04:002011-03-24T15:57:41.953-04:00@Bella - I agree 100%, but I also want to say agai...@Bella - I agree 100%, but I also want to say again and again that I DID buy this because it DOES look like the best science curriculum for our needs. A few criticisms don't mean I think the author or the curriculum are bad.

Other curriculum: Pretty typical for Grade 1. Elemental Science, of course. We'll be continuing with Handwriting Without Tears and Explode the Code, maybe add Spelling Workout at some point. First Language Lessons, Volume 1, Story of the World, Volume 1, plus the activity book, and maybe supplementary readings from Famous Men of Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome. We're using a wonderful Canadian math program called JUMP Math, and I supplement with Miquon and other random fun-math activities.
Plus, there's Hebrew and extracurriculars! I hope to continue loosely following the Ambleside term rotation for composers and artists.
Sounds like a busy year when I put it all down in a tiny box like this... :-)))Tziviahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11828930310967808828noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21153604.post-56204643435529908682011-03-24T10:02:33.458-04:002011-03-24T10:02:33.458-04:00Thank you for your review. It irks me to no end that some people think that because the author is a member of the forum, people are not supposed to anything negative, even if true.
Can you share what other curriculum you found?~Sara Lopezhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16172173074889056746noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21153604.post-42858175039886483522011-03-17T00:09:05.052-04:002011-03-17T00:09:05.052-04:00Thank you for this detailed review. Although now I am paranoid that I might make some grammatical errors in my comment, hehe.

The author always manages to get in on any WTM post about her curriculum that it is hard to say anything negative about it. I have my own reasons for not using ES (found other programs that seemed more professional and complete), but I did take some ideas from it. It is good to see such an honest review of it.Angelahttp://satorismiles.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21153604.post-32918093419197770862011-03-16T23:50:54.165-04:002011-03-16T23:50:54.165-04:00What saddens me is that most well-connected people...What saddens me is that most well-connected people know at least a few grammar geeks who'd probably do it for free - or for free curriculum. This author is very active at the WTM forum. People are so desperate for good science curricula that she could probably even have offered free PDF copies to a bunch of other mamas in return for proofreading. :-oTziviahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11828930310967808828noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21153604.post-65635345934631476712011-03-16T23:28:45.253-04:002011-03-16T23:28:45.253-04:00I like that you give such a thorough review!
